I've got some good news and bad news. The bad news is that the amount of money Vote on The Book has earned through
advertising revenue is not as much as I would have liked. As of now, the amount that would be donated to each of the top 6 candidate
is less than $100 each. Considering it only cost each of you one vote, it's certainly better than nothing, but I think
we can get more than that for each candidate, which leads me to the good news- we still have plenty of
time before the primary elections. So, if you're wondering how you can get more money to go to your candidate, read on.
There are two aspects that determine how much your candidate will receive. First, is their % of votes and, second, is the total advertising proceeds on Vote on The Book.
I'll assume that if you're reading this, you've already voted, so the first part is taken care of. Now what is left is to increase the advertising revenue that Vote on The Book receives. An easy way you can do this, is by encouraging your friends to vote on this application and putting their vote on their profile. The more people using the application the higher the chance that someone will find the advertisments useful and click them, thereby increasing the donation pool for the candidates. That being said, it will not increase the donation pool if anyone abuses the advertisments with what the advertisers call "click-fraud". So please consider the advertisments only if they are something you find interesting or useful. As always, please don't hesitate to ask me if you've got any questions.

It has been a while since our last update, but we've been working hard behind the scenes to get things ready
for our next big direction for the site. We will, of course,
continue donating all profits from the site to the campaigns but we're going to add several big features that we
think you'll be as excited about it as we are. Thanks to everyone for all of your emails- your suggestions
and comments really help out, so keep them coming.
Since it's the end of the month, we'll be posting the donation amounts for the June 11-July 31 period within a week or so. I'm looking forward to seeing the results and how much we're able to donate. I've noticed that Obama has been loosing some ground recently to Kucinich and Gravel, so that will help their amounts. For the Republicans, Paul has been sitting pretty for a while, so there's not much doubt he'll receive quite a bit from the Republican portion of the donations. Check back soon for the results.

After weighing out the pros and cons, we've decided to slightly alter the way we determine how much to donate to
each candidate. We will now divide the money among the top three candidates in each election primary. The candidates will be
ranked by the average number of votes they had in the previous month. We will take the top three candidates in each primary, determine
the new percentages for each of the top three and divide the money as described below.
We'll post an example soon. Please email us if you have any questions.

Hello Everyone,
First off, thank you for all of your support so far! There have been over 2000 votes cast in the last week alone and that number continues to grow.
We're asking that you spread the word in any way you can. We have a group for Vote on The Book that you can join and invite your friends (VOTB Facebook group). Soon, we will be adding a feature for you to invite your friends directly from this site, but until then the Facebook group is the best way to spread the word. You can also inform others by posting on discussion boards, or simply telling to your friends.
If you're on Digg, digg our story.
Remember, the more voters, the better for your candidate. Ultimately, the amount of money donated depends on how many people use the site and are interested in the advertisements. While we can't be sure at this point how much we'll be able to donate, other than that we can't donate over $2300 per candidate per election, we do know that this is probably the easiest money you can earn for your candidate and a great way to get people more involved, knowledgeable (hopefully) and interested in the election. Be sure to check out your candidate's page to see his/her stances on the issues, latest news and videos.

We are excited to announce that - starting Monday, June 11th 2007 - we will be donating all
proceeds from Vote on The Book to the candidates' 2008 Presidential campaigns.
Here's how it works
The more votes your candidate has, the more money they will receive. We use the average percentage of the vote they had during the previous month. At the beginning of each month we will post the previous months results, including average percentages and amount distributed to each candidate. Once donations have been made, proof of donations will be posted on this website.
We will be following up with more details and a new "Donations" section soon. If you have any questions in the meantime, email us.
