McCain, Gilmore Share a Moment

Arizona Sen. John McCain, the presumptive GOP nominee for president, stopped by Shockoe Express & Roastery in Richmond today before a fund-raiser at the nearby Omni Hotel.
The coffee shop, located in the city's historic Shockoe Slip neighborhood, was one of U.S. Senate Mark R. Warner's (D) favorite hangouts when he was governor from 2002 to 2006.
Before the $1,000 a plate fund-raiser, Mcain hosted about 40 people at a reception.
McCain mingled with former lieutenant governor John H. Hager, former attorney general Jerry W. Kilgore, Del. Christopher B. Saxman (R-Staunton), Attorney General Robert F. McDonnell, Sen. Walter A. Stosch (R-Henrico), U.S. Rep. Eric I. Cantor (R-Va.) and former Vietnam POW Paul Galanti, a man whom McCain called a "dear and beloved friend from long ago and far away."
While taking questions from the audience, former governor James S. Gilmore III (R) entered the room and was noticed by McCain.
"Hey Jim," McCain said. "Congratulations on securing the nomination of our party."
"It was close," Gilmore said, referring to the fact that he won the U.S. Senate nomination by about 65 votes.
"Those are the ones you appreciate the most," said McCain, who will also be raising money tonight at an event in Tysons Corner.

It is going to be a very tough year for Republicans. I doubt that Jeff Frederick has the skill level to lead the Republican party in Virginia. John Hager had much more experience and a superb fundraising record. Jeff Frederick needs to resign from his position as a state delegate to dedicate all his energy to the Republican party. He promised as much and now he needs to keep his promise. This needs to be more than a read my lips moment...
