Biden Not Interested, But Would Accept V.P. Position
The Associated Press is reporting that the Senate chairman of the foreign relations committee, Joseph Biden, is telling the media that despite the fact he is not interested in becoming the running mate for Democratic nominee Barack Obama, he would accept the position of Vice President if he is ultimately asked by the party’s presidential hopeful.
The 65-year-old Delaware Senator is viewed as a strong candidate for Obama’s running mate due to his sterling reputation in regards to foreign policy, an area that is not particularly viewed as a strong point for the Democratic nominee.
Biden does not believe Obama will ask him to be his Vice President, as he has not lobbied for the position and has publicly stated his disinterest in the position, according to the Associated Press.
However, he expressed in a public statement how he feels he would be entitled to accept the position if Obama decides to ask him in the end. Biden said, "Am I going to say to the first African-American candidate about to make history in the world that, 'No, I will not help you out like you want me to'? Of course I'll say yes."
